B.C. wildfires holding steady at about 150, heat warnings span southern Interior
British Columbia's wildfire service says this week will bring "increased heat," marking a 15-day trend of hot and dry weather that has fuelled a surge in fire activity.
A provincial fire situation report says there's potential for thunderstorms in the Interior, while the northeast returns to a warming trend after a three-day break.
Environment Canada maintains heat warnings for parts of the southern Interior from the Fraser Canyon up to the south Cariboo as well as the Okanagan Valley, communities along the Canada-U.S. border and the Kootenay Lake area.

The hearing in the High Court on the bail plea of Arvind Kejriwal, who is in jail in the Delhi liquor scam case, has been postponed. Now the next hearing of this matter will be held on August 7 and till then Kejriwal will remain in Tihar Jail.
His lawyer said that the ED filed a fresh reply to the petition late last night, after which the court adjourned the matter till August 6.

Quebec RCMP seize 63 kilograms of cocaine stashed inside grand piano, arrest four
Quebec RCMP say they seized 62.7 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the walls of a grand piano during searches in the Lanaudière region and the Sherbrooke, Que., area.
They arrested four people on July 12 allegedly involved in a conspiracy to import and traffic the drugs, following a tip from Homeland Security Investigations, a United States law enforcement agency.
RCMP say they also seized $10,000 in cash and several electronic devices.

Canada's 13 premiers set to begin days of meetings in Halifax
Canada's premiers will be in Halifax today to begin three days of scheduled meetings in Nova Scotia's capital.
Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston, who is the current chair of the Council of the Federation, is hosting the event in the city's downtown core.
Houston told reporters after a cabinet meeting Thursday that premiers will be focused on discussing "key issues" like affordability, housing and infrastructure.
He also says he expects to have conversations about the relationships between the provinces and the federal government.

Police in Kamloops, B.C., continue search for 50-year-old Alberta man lost in river
Mounties in Kamloops, B.C., say the search continues for a 50-year-old Alberta man lost in the North Thompson River.
Kamloops RCMP say officers responded to a call near a sports complex after a man was reportedly "swept away" by the river on Friday.
Police say 50-year-old Stan Cappis and a friend jumped into a fast-moving portion of the river to rescue two young people who got caught by the river's current.
Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet says Cappis' friend and the youths got to shore, but Cappis was "swept away" and was last spotted around a river bend.

Rescuers in Nepal recover 7 bodies after a landslide swept 2 buses of people into a river
Rescuers have recovered a total of seven bodies from the river that two buses full of people were swept into by a landslide, officials said Monday.
Rescuers were able to find the bodies in different locations on the riverbanks as the search continues for the missing buses and people on board.
Government administrator Khima Nanda Bhusal said the bodies were identified and relatives contacted. Three of the dead are Indians and the remaining four are Nepali nationals.

Nepal’s newly appointed prime minister took the oath of office Monday at a ceremony in Kathmandu.
The leader of the Nepal’s largest communist party, Khadga Prasad Oli, was named prime minister on Sunday following the collapse of a previous coalition government.
This is his fourth time serving as prime minister of the Himalayan nation.
