Former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot will come out of jail for election campaign
Former Punjab cabinet minister and senior Congress leader Sadhu Singh Dharamsot is coming out of jail, the Punjab-Haryana High Court has granted him bail till June 5 and asked him to surrender on June 6. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, like Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal, filed a bail application for campaigning.
Dharamsot is facing charges in a case related to a forest scam worth crores of rupees. He is a former MLA from Nabha assembly constituency. This constituency comes under Patiala Lok Sabha constituency. He had to face defeat in the assembly elections held in 2022.

Fire officials worry wind could push wildfire into B.C. town today
A fire behaviour specialist with the B.C. Wildfire Service says an intense wildfire could hit Fort Nelson this morning, based on forecasts that have been calling for strong winds that have been fuelling the out-of-control blaze to continue throughout the day.
Ben Boghean said in a video posted to social media Sunday night that the extreme fire behaviour, made worse by years of drought and a below-normal snowpack this past winter, could end up threatening the crews that have been fighting the Parker Lake wildfire.

Trails closed after bear attacks woman at estuary in Squamish, B.C.
Officials say a woman was attacked by a bear while she was walking her dog at a nature estuary in Squamish, B.C.
British Columbia's Conservation Officer Service says in a Facebook post that the trails have been closed since the attack happened Friday, when the woman was walking her dog and it ran off into thick bush.
Officers say the woman then noticed two bear cubs and was "suddenly charged" by an accompanying female bear, suffering non-life-threatening injuries in the attack.
Conservation officers say the bear then ran off, and later searches of the area did not discover the animal's whereab

Police announce arrest of fourth suspect in B.C. Sikh activist Nijjar's death
Police in British Columbia have charged a fourth Indian national in last year's killing of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
The province's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says 22-year-old Amandeep Singh was already in the custody of Peel Regional Police in Ontario for unrelated firearms charges.
Investigators say the evidence in the Nijjar case was "sufficient" for the BC Prosecution Service to charge Singh with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
They say no further details of the arrest can be released due to ongoing investigations and court processes.

Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly plans trip to Middle East, Mediterranean
Canada’s foreign affairs minister is embarking on a five-day trip to the Middle East and the Mediterranean where she will focus on peacekeeping and aid.
Global Affairs Canada says Mélanie Joly is set to leave today and will visit Cyprus, Lebanon, Turkiye and Greece where she will meet with her counterparts and other government officials.
In a statement, Joly says rapidly evolving situations in the Middle East and Caucuses continue to have repercussions in Canada.
She says she looks forward to engaging with officials and to see how Canada can continue to provide support.

Pargat Singh targeted AAP party supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann
Punjab Congress leader from Jalandhar Pargat Singh has targeted Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal and state Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the promises made by them before the assembly elections. Pargat Singh said that the Aam Aadmi Party had promised to earn 20,000 crores from mining in a year but only 472 crores was collected in the state exchequer in two years.
