Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to receive about $8 million in government pension and severance pay over his lifetime.
This calculation has been made by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. The group has released figures on the pension eligibility of 110 members of Parliament who either did not run for re-election or lost their bid to return to Parliament.
Trudeau is one of them, who did not participate in the 2025 federal election. According to the Taxpayers Federation, former PM Justin Trudeau will receive $104,900 in severance pay.
At the same time, if he lives to 90 years, he will receive a total pension payment of $8.4 million for 16 years as an MP and 10 years as prime minister. Franco Terrazzano, federal director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, said that there are separate pensions for being an MP and prime minister.
