Lok Sabha Elections: Amritpal Singh sought temporary release to file nomination papers
Amritpal Singh, head of Waris Punjab organization, who is preparing to contest election as an independent candidate from Khadur Sahib Lok Sabha seat of Punjab, has sought temporary release to file nomination papers and for this he has applied in the Punjab Haryana High Court. The court will hear it on Friday.
It is to be noted that at present Amritpal Singh is locked up in Dibrugarh Jail of Assam under the National Security Act along with his colleagues. Punjab Police arrested Amritpal Singh in April 2023 from Rode village of Moga district.

BJP candidate Hansraj Hans filled nomination
BJP candidate Hansraj Hans, who is facing the opposition of farmers in Punjab, has filed his nomination paper today to contest the elections.

B.C. government hit by 'sophisticated cybersecurity incidents'
British Columbia's premier says the province has identified "sophisticated cybersecurity incidents" involving government networks.
David Eby says the provincial government is working with the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security and other agencies to determine the extent of the incidents, but there is no evidence at this time that sensitive information has been compromised.

1 day before the Supreme Court's decision, ED opposed Arvind Kejriwal's interim bail
The ED has filed an affidavit opposing the Supreme Court's decision on the interim bail of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tomorrow. The ED said that Kejriwal is not contesting elections and no leader has been granted bail from custody for campaigning before and campaigning is not a fundamental right.
ED also said in his affidavit that elections are held throughout the year across the country. If every leader is granted interim bail only in view of elections, it will be impossible to keep any leader in jail.

Shiromani Akali Dal candidate joins Aam Aadmi Party
Hardeep Singh Butrela, who was nominated as Lok Sabha candidate from Chandigarh by Shiromani Akali Dal, has joined Aam Aadmi Party after resigning from the party.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann welcomed Hardeep Singh Butrela at his residence in Chandigarh. Butrela was the president of the Chandigarh unit of the Akali Dal and the only councilor of the party in the municipal corporation.
In the past, he had returned the candidature ticket to Sukhbir Badal saying that he was not getting any support from the party.

Boeing 737 skidded off runway in Senegal airport, injuring 10 people
A Boeing 737 plane carrying 85 people skidded off the runway at the airport in Dakar, Senegal's capital, injuring 10 people, a statement from the country’s transport minister said in a statement on Thursday.
El Malick Ndiaye, the transport minister, said the Air Sénégal flight operated by TransAir was headed to Bamako late on Wednesday carrying 79 passengers, two pilots and four cabin crew.
The injured were being treated in hospital, while the other survivors have been taken to a hotel to rest.

London Drugs president says sorry for cyber breach, no evidence customer data taken
The president of London Drugs has issued a letter apologizing for a cybersecurity incident that forced the company to close stores for more than a week, but he says there's no evidence customer databases were compromised.
The letter from Clint Mahlman says the Richmond, B.C.-based company is still investigating the April 28 incident, and should it find that any customer information was affected, it would inform people according to privacy laws.

Sukhpal Singh Khaira targeted Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann
Congress candidate from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency of Punjab Sukhpal Singh Khaira has accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of not making any development in his own Dhuri Vidhan Sabha constituency in the last two years.
