Fatal collision under investigation on Highway 1

Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal collision on Highway 1 near Whittaker Rd near the Malahat summit. On August 14, 2025 just before 4:00 p.m., Shawnigan Lake RCMP responded to the area of Highway 1 near Whittaker Rd after receiving a report a collision between two vehicles. Preliminary information gathered at the scene indicated that a white Toyota Corolla was travelling southbound on Highway 1 when it collided with a black Dodge Ram around that intersection. Richmond RCMP arrest suspect in alleged stranger assault involving a weapon

On August 13, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Richmond RCMP responded to an assault with a weapon at a parkade of a retail shopping centre in the 6500 block of No. 3 Road. Richmond RCMP received the call from an on-duty security guard who heard the commotion and intervened. Richmond RCMP frontline officers quickly arrived on-scene and arrested the suspect without further incident. The suspect remains in-custody and there is no ongoing risk to the public. Several children were taken to hospital after a school bus left a highway in western Manitoba on Tuesday morning, according to RCMP. Police say the bus rolled off the road south of Mafeking, near the community of Swan River, roughly 550 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.
