The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) has slapped a hefty penalty of Rs 1.16 crore on the organisers of Punjabi singer Karan Aujla’s concert held on December 7 at the Exhibition Ground in Sector 34, Chandigarh. The penalty has been imposed for the illegal display of advertisements at the event venue.
The MC’s notice cited Clause 4 of the Advertisement Control Order, which stipulates that no advertisements can be displayed without written permission from the Chief Administrator. As a result, the organisers have been instructed to pay Rs 1,15,60,191, which includes the advertisement fee, penalty, interest, and GST, by December 17.
Failure to comply with the payment deadline will result in additional charges, including an annual compounded interest of 18% on the fee and penalty, the notice warned.
