Actor Asif Basra, a popular face in several movies and TV shows including Jab We Met, Kai Po Che and Paatal Lok was found hanging in a private residential complex in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, police said.
He was 53.
As per reports, the actor had a property on lease in Mcleodganj, and used to visit the hill station often.
Asif Basra had appeared in a number of Bollywood films, including a movie on the 1993 Mumbai blasts Black Friday, the 2002 Gujarat riots and Parzania.
Actors Kareena Kapoor Khan and Anushka Sharma paid tribute on social media. "My sincere condolences to the family and prayers for the loved ones. RIP Asif Basra," Anushka, who produced Paatal Lok, wrote. "Rest in peace Asif Basra. Heartfelt condolences to family and loved ones," wrote Kareena.
Actor Danish Hussain remembered working with Asif on the web series Hostages. He wrote in a tweet, "Oh this is tragic and heartbreaking. A dear friend and always had a good tip to give. We just acted together in #Hostages2 recently for @DisneyPlusHS Really heartbroken to hear about you dear friend."
