Sunny Deol has kicked off 2026 on a strong note with Border 2, and the year ahead looks equally packed with high-profile releases. Among them, the much-anticipated Lahore 1947 has been generating significant buzz. The film reunites Deol with director Rajkumar Santoshi and is backed by Aamir Khan, who also features in a pivotal supporting role. The ensemble cast further includes Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal and Shabana Azmi.
However, industry chatter suggests the makers are reconsidering the film’s title. While Lahore 1947 was chosen to reflect its Partition-era setting in the historic city, the team reportedly feels a more evocative name could better capture the emotional depth of the narrative.
The film draws inspiration from the acclaimed 1980 play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, written by Syed Asghar Wajahat.
A final decision on the possible title change is expected after further discussions among the stakeholders. Meanwhile, the film is slated for release on August 13, strategically timed around the Independence Day week.
