BSP supremo Kumari Mayawati will hold an election rally for BSP candidate and party state president Jasvir Singh Garhi from Sri Anandpur Sahib seat in Nawanshahr of Punjab tomorrow. Minister expected to table bill to extend citizenship rights to children born abroad
Immigration Minister Marc Miller is expected to table legislation today that would extend citizenship to some children born outside of the country.
In 2009, the Conservative government changed the law so that Canadian parents who were born abroad could not pass down their citizenship unless their child was born in Canada.
Amendments to the Citizenship Act in 1977 and 2009 also stripped thousands of people who were born abroad of their Canadian citizenship.
Those who've not had access to citizenship rights as a result of the amendments are known as "Lost Canadians."

Election Commission warns Charanjit Singh Channi
The Election Commission has issued a strong warning on the statement made by Charanjit Singh Channi, the Congress candidate from the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat of Punjab, about the army. B.C. wildfires: Plans underway for residents' return to evacuated town of Fort Nelson
The mayor of the regional municipality that includes the evacuated community of Fort Nelson, B.C., says he's optimistic crews have "a very good handle" on the wildfire burning outside town and plans are underway for residents to return.
Rob Fraser says the first phase involved ensuring it was safe enough to move the Fort Nelson emergency operations centre back into town after it was moved as the fire threatened earlier this month, and the second phase involves utility services.

Retailer London Drugs says it is "unwilling and unable" to pay a multimillion-dollar ransom to cybercriminals who claim to have stolen data in a hacking attack that recently shut down its stores for more than a week.
