Burnaby RCMP continues to search for missing person, George Lorry Wood
Burnaby RCMP are appealing for public help in finding a man who went missing nearly 10 years ago. RCMP say George Laurie Wood was last seen on June 20, 2015, when he was dropped off at the Surrey Central Sky Train station.
Corporal Doug McLaughlin said there is no word yet on Laurie Wood. He said the search for Laurie Wood has not stopped and anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
Police said Laurie Wood is an Indigenous man, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with brown hair and eyes.

AAP MLA from Khadoor Sahib Manjinder Singh Lalpura convicted in 12-year-old case
In Punjab, 12 people, including Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Khadoor Sahib Manjinder Singh Lalpura, have been convicted in a case of beating and molesting a woman 12 years ago.
The district court of Tarn Taran, while hearing the case on Wednesday, said that the convicts will be sentenced on September 12. The police have arrested 7 people, including the MLA, who have been sent to Goindwal Sahib jail by the court. Six policemen are also among the accused, but one policeman has died during the court proceedings.

Langley RCMP impound two motorcycles for excessive speed
On the evening of September 9, 2025, Langley RCMP officers stopped and impounded two motorcycles involved in separate incidents of excessive speeding.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., an officer conducting proactive speed enforcement near 216 Street and 58 Avenue observed a white street bike traveling northbound at a radar-confirmed speed of 124 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. Anand says Canada stands with Poland and Ukraine after Russian drone incursions
Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand says Canada is standing in solidarity with Poland and Ukraine after Russian drones violated NATO airspace.
Poland says multiple Russian drones entered its territory over the course of several hours overnight and were shot down with help from NATO allies.
Anand says on social media that this is "another horrendous example" of Russian President Vladimir Putin's refusal to seek peace.

Poland says it shot down Russian drones that violated its airspace during strikes on Ukraine
Poland says that multiple Russian drones entered its territory over the course of several hours and were shot down with help from NATO allies. The military described the incursion as an ``act of aggression'' carried out during a wave of Russian strikes on Ukraine.
Russia said it did not target Poland. But close ally, Belarus, said it tracked some drones that ``lost their course'' because they were jammed. Hamas confirms six killed in Israeli attack on Qatari capital
Hamas has confirmed the killing of six people, including a member of Qatari security forces, in an Israeli attack on the Qatari capital, Doha. Hamas said its negotiating team survived the attack but the son of the group's chief negotiator, Khalil al-Haya, was among those killed.

Connect FM, GNFB radiothon raises $750K for Punjab flood victims
Connect FM in association with Dukhniwaran Gurdwara Sahib, Guru Nanak Food Bank and Sanjha TV organized a radiothon for the flood victims of Punjab on Monday. During this, the sangat (people) from Surrey and surrounding areas as well as Calgary and Edmonton donated generously.
