B.C. Conservative leadership candidate Yuri Fulmer has entered into a “unite the right” agreement with former Conservative MLA Dallas Brodie, aimed at preventing vote-splitting if Fulmer becomes leader of the Opposition.
According to a joint statement released by the two camps, Brodie’s OneBC party would refrain from running candidates in 88 of British Columbia’s 93 ridings. In exchange, the Conservatives would not field candidates in five unspecified ridings.
Brodie, who was removed from the Conservative caucus last year by then-leader John Rustad, said she is offering her “full support” to Fulmer’s leadership bid and potential premiership. Her removal followed comments the party said mocked former residential school students.

The agreement also outlines that OneBC would enter into a formal confidence-and-supply arrangement to support a future government led by Fulmer, should he form one. Fulmer said the deal demonstrates his ability to unite right-leaning voters and build a governing coalition. Brodie said the agreement is intended to prevent vote-splitting among conservative voters across the province.
Brodie has previously faced criticism from opponents over her campaign against what her party describes as the “reconciliation industry.” Fulmer, an entrepreneur, is one of six remaining candidates in the race to replace Rustad as party leader.
