B.C.’s Pattulo Bridge is being completely closed over the long weekend. It will take effect at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 16, and will reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20. Fraser Crossing Partners said in a notice that roadworks will be underway, which will cause the bridge to be closed. Drivers are being advised to take the Port Man or Alex Fraser Bridges during this time. The N-19 night bus route will also be rerouted, so commuters may face delays of up to half an hour. Emergency crews responding to an out-of-control wildfire north of Edmonton say they are getting plans ready for residents to return home. Officials from Sturgeon County have said the more than 32-square-kilometre blaze started earlier this month when an all-terrain vehicle caught fire after an apparent electrical or mechanical failure. Dozens of homes were evacuated, and the county says responders are preparing to let residents return as soon as they deem the situation safe enough to do so. British Columbia's latest snowpack and water supply bulletin says drier, warmer weather last month has contributed to an early melt, raising concern for widespread drought this summer. By early May, the bulletin says about five per cent of B.C.'s annual snowpack has typically melted, but 15 per cent had melted by the start of this month. The bulletin from the province says snowpack was an average of 71 per cent of normal as of May 1, decreasing from 79 per cent of normal on April 1. RCMP say a toddler who disappeared from a home in northwestern Alberta has been found safe following an overnight ground and air search. Police say in a news release that officers with their Fairview detachment responded on Sunday night to a report of a missing two-year-old from a rural home in Clear Hills County. Mounties called in reinforcements to help search for the child, including a search dog team, officers with drones, as well as firefighters. They say more than 100 community volunteers also answered the call for help. The search ended happily shortly after 6 a.m. Monday

Alberta has reported 39 new cases of measles, bringing the provincial total to 365 since early March. The government says 30 of the new cases are in Alberta's south zone, which has seen more than half of all cases. Nearly 300 of Alberta's total cases have been in youth under 18, with 114 cases reported in children under 5. The government says that as of earlier this month 19 people have been hospitalized, with at least three children needing intensive care. British police say they have arrested a man on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life over a fire at the London house where Prime Minister Keir Starmer lived before he was elected to lead the country. The 21-year-old was arrested early Tuesday. No one was injured in the blaze early Monday that damaged the door of the north London house. Starmer does not currently live there. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says her government is freezing its industrial carbon price effective immediately at 95-dollars per tonne of emissions.The industrial carbon price had been scheduled to increase to 110 dollars next year and continue rising to 170 dollars per tonne by 2030.She says the freeze is critical to keep Albertan industry competitive and defend jobs during Canada's tariff fight with the United States. Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the effective cancellation of the federal consumer carbon price shortly after he took office in March.
