JD Vance asks Pakistan to cooperate with India in Pahalgam attack case

US Vice President JD Vance has asked Pakistan to cooperate with India in the Pahalgam attack case. Vance said that India has the right to retaliate but he also said that India's response should be such that it does not lead to a major war in the region. He said on a channel that we also expect that Pakistan will cooperate with India to the extent that it is responsible so that the terrorists can be identified and dealt with. It is noteworthy that tensions between India and Pakistan are at their peak after 26 people were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. At the t

Carney says he'll trigger a byelection if Conservatives seek

Prime Minister Mark Carney has made a big announcement that if the Conservatives vacate a seat for a by-election in an attempt to send Pierre Poilievre to Parliament, he will approve the by-election as soon as possible without any politics. It is worth noting that Poilievre lost the election in the Carlton riding of Ottawa in the election held on April 28, a seat he had held for 20 years. The Conservatives still want to keep him as party leader, but since Poilievre does not have a seat in the House of Commons, the party is considering several options, including having Poliav contest the by-el

They say it began when officers arrested three men and a youth who had allegedly lured a man through an online dating app to a remote location. Police say the man was assaulted with a baseball bat and a replica gun, and his vehicle was vandalized. They say officers recovered video of the assaults from cellphones and further investigation revealed two similar attacks. The accused face charges including aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. Police say th

Canmore’s vacancy tax bylaw deemed valid by Alberta judge

The Rocky Mountain town of Canmore will soon begin taxing homeowners who leave their residences empty for more than half the year. The new tax is part of the town's bid to reverse course on a cost-of-living crisis that has turned the once blue-collar town into an pricey mountain enclave. But the tax has upset many of Canmore's homeowners who use their properties seasonally or on the weekend, and who will be forced to pay about three times more in property taxes than the average primary-resident. Canmore Mayor Sean Krausert says the tax is not an attack on second homeowners. An

Emergency crews drafting plans to welcome home residents forced out by wildfire

Emergency crews responding to an out-of-control wildfire north of Edmonton say they are getting plans ready for residents to return home. Officials from Sturgeon County have said the more than 32-square-kilometre blaze started earlier this month when an all-terrain vehicle caught fire after an apparent electrical or mechanical failure. Dozens of homes were evacuated, and the county says responders are preparing to let residents return as soon as they deem the situation safe enough to do so. Until then, residents and the general public are being reminded to stay away from the evacuati

B.C.'s low snowpack, early-season melt raise drought concern: province

British Columbia's latest snowpack and water supply bulletin says drier, warmer weather last month has contributed to an early melt, raising concern for widespread drought this summer. By early May, the bulletin says about five per cent of B.C.'s annual snowpack has typically melted, but 15 per cent had melted by the start of this month. The bulletin from the province says snowpack was an average of 71 per cent of normal as of May 1, decreasing from 79 per cent of normal on April 1. The figure is slightly higher than last year, when B.C.'s snowpack was an average of 66 per cent of what would b
