A series of sexual interference allegations has local police reaching out to the community to see if anyone has more information related to the investigation. On July 24, 2022 shortly after 11:00 pm, a couple living in the 7000 block of Gollner Avenue were assaulted in an attempted break and enter. The victims, a man and woman both over the age of 60, sustained non-life threatening injuries, but required hospitalization. On August 8th at approximately noon, the New Westminster Police Department received a call from a witness advising there was a man walking through the Brow of the Hill neighbourhood with a hatchet. A patrol officer quickly located the suspect and attempted to speak with him. However, the suspect raised the hatchet in a threatening manner and charged at the officer. The officer was able to avoid the suspect, who then fled the area. Police say a man armed with a knife entered the building around 4 a-m last Tuesday and started lighting fires. Although the building has reopened, several service counters inside are still closed.
