Farmers to March to Delhi on December 14: Sarwan Singh Pandher
A group of farmers, led by Sarwan Singh Pandher from the Shambhu border of Punjab-Haryana, will march to Delhi again on December 14. The announcement was made by farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher during a press conference at the Shambhu border today.
On this occasion, farmer leader Tejveer Singh stated that the movement will complete 10 months on December 13, and a large gathering will be held on that day.

B.C. selects nine wind power projects to boost energy supply by eight per cent a year
British Columbia has given the green light to nine wind energy projects that will boost the province's hydro-electric grid by eight per cent a year, enough to power 500,000 homes.
Premier David Eby says BC Hydro, a Crown utility, has selected the projects following a strong response to its call for new renewable power-generation operations.
He says the development and construction will generate between $5 billion and $6 billion in private spending on the projects, four of which will be located in the B.C. Interior, four in the North and one on Vancouver Island.

Freeland doesn't commit to meeting her own deficit target in fall economic statement
Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is not committing to meeting the $40.1-billion deficit target she set for the government last year.
Freeland says she expects the fall economic statement, which she will present on Dec. 16, will show a declining debt-to-GDP ratio.
When asked if she would also meet her deficit target, Freeland wouldn't answer, saying she chose her words "carefully."
The finance minister announced a set of fiscal guardrails last fall in response to pressure from the Bank of Canada and economists to avoid fuelling inflation with too much spending.

Canada Post strike on day 26 as union sends new proposals
With the Canada Post strike nearing four weeks, the postal service says it doesn't see an end in sight.
On Monday, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers sent over its latest list of proposals, which include wage gains and job protections.
But Canada Post said in a statement that the proposals don't bring the two sides any closer together in a dispute that's brought millions of deliveries to a halt.
Despite calls for the government to intervene, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday that the government is putting pressure on the two sides to reach an agreement.

Alberta cancels foreign worker recruitment trip to United Arab Emirates
The Alberta government has pulled the plug on a foreign worker recruitment mission in the United Arab Emirates scheduled for early next year.
Documents show the mission was part of the province's Alberta Advantage Immigration Program, which works to fast-track the permanent residency process for workers in sought after sectors.
An itinerary says government resources were to be used to facilitate interviews with workers and Alberta-based employers who signed up for the trip.

Shiromani Akali Dal Gears Up for Punjab Municipal Elections
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has begun preparations for the upcoming Municipal Corporation and Municipal Council elections in Punjab. The party plans to contest on its official election symbol.
