Alberta's legislature has wrapped up a tumultuous spring sitting, which may be followed by a new premier when politicians return to the house this fall. Dropping the drugs charges against Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan's son Aryan Khan on Friday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), SN Pradhan said WhatsApp chats without physical evidence hold "no value". He said that a person can talk about anything on WhatsApp, but without physical existence, it's not complete evidence. "There should be physical corroboration of WhatsApp chat. Courts have clarified that WhatsApp chat, in itself, holds no value. You can talk about anything on WhatsApp but if not corroborated with physical evidence, it's not complete evidence," the NCB head told media persons.

Toronto police say a man has died after an interaction with officers during which a police gun was fired. Police Chief James Ramer says officers were called to the city's east end around 1 p.m. on reports of a person with a gun. An adult and two youths in custody for suspected involvement in the death of a man in Abbotsford

Police say an adult and two youths are in custody for ``suspected involvement'' in the death of a 41-year-old man last night in Abbotsford. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the victim was attacked near the parking lot of a large shopping mall but it has not released a cause of death. I-HIT says the victim has no link to gangs and the attack is believed to have been an isolated incident. Sergeant David Lee says police are still searching for key evidence even though arrests have been made and anyone with dashcam or surveillance video is asked to contact the homicide team.

The City of Kamloops says one person has died in hospital following an ammonia leak at an industrial park. A spokeswoman with BC Emergency Health Services has previously said one person was taken to hospital in critical condition and two others were there in stable condition. The BC Wildfire Service has announced open fire bans that will prohibit most burning activities in most coastal areas of the province, with exceptions for Haida Gwaii. The ban on Category 2 and Category 3 open fires in the Coastal Fire Centre comes into effect at noon Friday, and the service says it's being imposed to reduce the risk of wildfires.
