Another case of gun violence in Calgary, Police are investigating

Police are investigating another case of gun violence in Calgary, this time it happened in the southeast community of Radisson Heights yesterday. Calgary police have not released any information regarding injuries or the individuals involved. Police say it is the city's 97th shooting this year. On Monday, police were called to respond to a shooting in Pineridge that officials say involved two vehicles, but no was reported injured. There were two shootings in the city on Sunday.

RCMP investigate after Leela Aheer's social media accounts were hacked

Alberta RCMP are confirming they are investigating after Leela Aheer, a candidate in the United Conservative Party leadership race, reported that some of her social media accounts had been compromised. Aheer, who was elected in the riding of Chestermere-Strathmore in 2019, says she was shocked to discover that both her personal and public Facebook accounts had been hacked. In a Twitter post, she called it a targeted attack and said there were inappropriate messages being sent through it as a result. UCP leadership candidate Leela Aheer's social media accounts hacked

A spokesperson for United Conservative Party leadership candidate Leela Aheer says her personal and public social media accounts have been hacked. Aheer's campaign manager says the member of legislative assembly who represents the Chestermere-Strathmore constituency in Alberta is devastated. The hacker is promoting child exploitation and nudity on her accounts. Aheer's team says it is trying to figure out how to retrieve her accounts from the hacker.

Alberta RCMP members demoralized over provincial police proposal, commissioner says

The head of Alberta's RCMP says the provincial government's proposal to form its own police force is hurting Mountie morale. Deputy Commissioner Curtis Zablocki says staff are concerned about their futures and the futures of their partners and their families. Environment Canada issues special air quality statement for the Edmonton

Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for the Edmonton area. The Air Quality Health Index was sitting at seven out of 10 this morning, which is considered to be a high risk. Environment Canada says strenuous activities outdoors should be reduced or rescheduled. It says the haze is from wildfires in Alberta and British Columbia. Environment Canada predicts the AQHI will drop to a four - moderate risk on Monday night, and sit at three - low risk on Tuesday.

Calgary police investigating two shootings in the city happened less than 24 hours

Police say officers responded to a shooting yesterday evening the neighbourhood of Penbrooke Meadows. They say officers found a man inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds and sent to hospital in stable condition. Police say an early morning shooting yesterday left one man dead. They did not disclose whether the two shootings were connected, but they say the shooting in the evening did not appear to be random. Police in Calgary say a man is dead following reports of gunshots at a bar early Sunday. Calgary police have cordoned off a section of the Bow River pathway in the northeast after a stabbing last night. They say one person was stabbed and sent to by ambulance to the Foothills Medical Centre in critical, life-threatening condition.
