Small, out-of-control wildfire prompts evacuation alerts near Lytton, B.C.

The BC Wildfire Service says a blaze sparked Wednesday in the Fraser Canyon has charred nearly one square kilometre of bush south of Lytton. The wildfire service says the out-of-control fire is burning in steep terrain on the east side of Highway 1. Evacuation alerts have been issued by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District and the Lytton First Nation, covering about 18 properties south and east of Lytton. A British Columbia woman says she needed hospital treatment for injuries including gashes and deep bruises after being attacked by a deer defending its fawn. Liz Royer says she was out for a run in Kimberley last week when the deer appeared out of the heavy bush and charged. 18-year-old shooting suspect turns himself in to Burnaby RCMP

A suspect wanted in connection with a December 2025 shooting in North Burnaby has turned himself in to authorities. Burnaby RCMP said officers responded on Dec. 19, 2025, to a report of a shooting near Phillips Avenue and Woodbrook Place.
