Pakistani actress Hania Aamir’s highly anticipated Punjabi film alongside Indian superstar Diljit Dosanjh—widely believed to be the next installment in the Sardaarji franchise, Sardaarji 3 is facing an uncertain future due to a revived prohibition on Pakistani talent in Indian cinema. The Film Federation of Western India Cinema (FWIC) has reinstated a ban on the participation of Pakistani actors, musicians, and crew members in Indian productions. This action comes in the wake of a recent attack in Pahalgam, reigniting political sensitivities.

The FWIC, regarded as a dominant force in India’s film industry, has reaffirmed its stance against cross-border collaborations. As a result, the joint project featuring Hania Aamir—marking her debut in Punjabi-language cinema—and Diljit Dosanjh has been stalled indefinitely. The film, which was originally scheduled to hit theaters in June 2025, is now in limbo.

While Diljit Dosanjh had earlier confirmed both the film and Hania’s involvement, he has yet to issue any public remarks in response to the renewed restrictions.

Meanwhile, the controversy gained further traction after Bollywood personality Kamal R Khan posted on social media about the duo’s collaboration. His comments appear to have amplified public opposition, sparking boycott calls and fueling the ongoing debate.

As the industry and fans await further clarification, the fate of the film remains suspended, caught in the crossfire of art and geopolitics.
