A government witness was cross-examined on Tuesday in a criminal defamation case against BJP Mandi MP and Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut at a court in Bathinda, Punjab.
The witness, Gurpreet Singh, is a relative of complainant Mahinder Kaur. According to Mahinder Kaur’s lawyer, three government witnesses have so far been examined in the case.
The complainant’s cross-examination is scheduled for the next hearing on September 15, subject to her health condition.
Kangana Ranaut appeared before the court through video conferencing. Meanwhile, arguments were not heard today on an application seeking the seizure of Kangana’s passport.
The case relates to a 2020 tweet in which Kangana allegedly used derogatory language against Mahinder Kaur.
