Haven’t we heard it a gazillion times, ‘It takes two to tango.’ Indeed, it does! But in the recent web series, Sunflower, there are more than two, in fact a couple of them creating a perfect tango (a dance form).

Created by Vikas Bahl of Queen movie fame, Sunflower stands out in terms of characterization.

Every character has been etched out beautifully, leaving no loose ends. So much so, at one point, it is difficult to imagine how the story would have looked, or moved ahead without the XYZ characters.

From well-defined characters comes well-defined and brilliant acting. Topping the charts is actor Sunil Grover playing Sonu Singh. The actor blends quirkiness and innocence effortlessly. He takes subtle digs at society like matter of fact happenings. Even if you try to find a stand up comedian behind Sunil Grover, trust, you can’t find any!

Next up are Ranvir Shorey and Girish Kulkarni, intelligent cops with a subtle sense of humour and their own quirky style. The best part is that their characters struggle with the trials and tribulations of any other common man on earth.

Ashish Vidyarthi, Mukul Chadda, Radha Bhatt... it is not possible to imagine Sunflower without any of these actors.

And now to the part that takes away the colour from the bright and yellow Sunflower - the story, plot and the length. The series starts on a pacy note but soon loses grip, and runs into unnecessary twists and turns. It is stretched way too far, it is lengthy and dragged too.

The USP of any muder mystery is it’s pace and length, and Sunflower loses marks on both these points.

In the end, try smelling this Sunflower, you won’t be disappointed!
