PM Narendra Modi to attend Brics Summit in Russia
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Russia during October 22-23 to attend the Brics Summit, the external affairs ministry announced on Friday amid growing speculation about the possibility of a meeting between the Indian and Chinese leaders on the margins of the event.
Modi is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the summit to be held in Kazan, people familiar with the matter said on condition of anonymity. China’s foreign ministry announced on Friday that President Xi Jinping will attend the summit being chaired by Russia.

Hamas Leader Yahya Sinwar Killed In Gaza
Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who masterminded the October 7 attacks in Israel last year, was killed an operation by Israeli forces in Gaza on Thursday.
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz announced the killing of Sinwar after hours of operation in Gaza that led to killing of two more people. “The mass murderer Yahya Sinwar, responsible for the massacre and atrocities of October 7th, was eliminated today by IDF (Israeli military) soldiers,” Katz said in a statement sent to media.

Bangladesh court issues arrest warrant for ex-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over deaths of protesters
A special court in Bangladesh issued arrest warrants on Thursday for former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 45 others, including her close aides, on charges of crimes against humanity during a student-led uprising in July and August that forced her to flee the country, a prosecutor said.
Prosecutor B.M. Sultan Mahmud said the Dhaka-based International Crimes Tribunal issued the arrest warrants in response to two petitions submitted by the prosecution.
He said the head of the tribunal, Golam Mortuza Majumdar, issued the orders in the presence of other judges.

Air India flight makes emergency landing in Iqaluit after online threat
An Air India flight made an emergency landing this morning in Nunavut following a security threat posted online. RCMP say Air India Flight 127 was en route from New Delhi to Chicago, but landed instead at the Iqaluit International Airport at 5:21 a.m.
The police force says in a news release all 211 passengers and crew were relocated to the airport.
Air India says it and other airlines have been subject to `a number of threats'' in recent days, adding that all of them have later been found to be hoaxes.

Gunmen kill 20 miners and wound others in an attack in southwest Pakistan
Gunmen killed 20 miners and wounded another seven in Pakistan’s southwest, a police official said Friday. It’s the latest attack in restive Balochistan province and comes days ahead of a major security summit being hosted in the capital. Police official Hamayun Khan Nasir said the gunmen stormed the accommodations at the coal mine in Duki district late Thursday night, rounded up the men and opened fire.

Biden cancels trip to Germany and Angola because of hurricane
President Joe Biden is postponing a planned trip to Germany and Angola to remain at the White House to monitor Hurricane Milton, which is bearing down on Florida’s Gulf Coast, the White House announced on Tuesday.
Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the change was necessary “given the projected trajectory and strength" of the storm.
It was not clear when the trip might be rescheduled. Biden had promised to go to Africa during his term in office, which ends in January.
