Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar has said that the Punjab government is behind the farmers' protests. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party is using the farmers' protests during the elections to distract people from the real issues of the state so as to cover up the major failures of the government.
During the press conference in Jalandhar, he also said that with these demonstrations, an attempt has been made to divide the society into two parts, 'rural versus urban' and 'farmer versus merchant'.
Jakhar said that questions should have been raised on the Aam Aadmi Party on issues ranging from drugs to unemployment and promises made to farmers in the state, but due to anti-farmer sit-ins against BJP candidates, the Aam Aadmi Party escaped from the questioning and the state Big issues are missing from the polls.
