West Bengal : Mob loots EVM, throws VVPAT machine in pond
Amid the seventh and the last phase of the Lok Sabha election Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) were looted by local mob and two VVPAT machines have been thrown inside a pond in South 24 Parganas's Kultali, West Bengal. According to the Chief Electoral Office, West Bengal, an FIR has been lodged by the Sector Officer.
CEO West Bengal cofirmed this news and posted on X . He said that FIR has been lodged by the Sector Officer and necessary action has been initiated.
The poll process in all six booths under the Sector is running uninterrupted. Fresh EVM and papers have been provided to the Sector

Sukhbir Singh Badal voted along with his family
Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal along with his family exercised his right to vote at village Badal under Ferozepur Lok Sabha constituency. Harsimrat Kaur Badal and children were also present with them.

Raghav Chadha cast his vote as soon as the voting started for the last phase
The work of holding Lok Sabha elections in Punjab has started from 7 am. As soon as voting started in Mohali, Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha was the first to reach the polling booth and cast his vote.
As soon as the voting started, people started reaching the polling booths and queues started forming at the booth in the morning itself.

Around 10 per cent voting recorded in Punjab till 9 am
Amid tight security arrangements, polling begins at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm.Punjab recorded a voter turnout at 9.64 per cent as of 9 am. Chandigarh, meanwhile, recorded a voter turnout of 11.64 per cent till 9 am. 10.71% voters cast their vote in Jalandhar till 9 am and 9.08% in Ludhiana.
Ferozepur recorded a turnout of 11.61 per cent, followed by Sangrur with 11.36 per cent.The phase will witness about 2.2 crore electors and 5.04 lakh first-time voters.

Lok Sabha Elections: Voting is happening in Punjab, 2 crore Punjabis will write the fate of 328 candidates
Today, voting is taking place in 13 seats of Punjab under Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Voting starts from 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. A total of 328 candidates are in the fray for the 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab.
A total of 253 candidates contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and 278 in 2019. 466 candidates had filed 598 nomination papers in the state.
After scrutiny of papers and return of letters, the total number of candidates remained 328, including 302 male and 26 female candidates.

Jang-e-Azadi memorial case, Barjinder Singh Hamdard got a big relief from the High Court
The Punjab-Haryana High Court has today issued a notice to the Punjab government, staying the arrest of former Rajya Sabha member and managing director of Ajit newspaper Barjinder Singh Hamdard till July 18.
