Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has again got 50 days parole. This is his ninth parole in four years. The parole of Ram Rahim, convicted in the rape and murder of a journalist case, is being linked to the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections in Haryana this year. In 2017, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the rape of two women followers and in 2019, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his employee Ranjit Singh. He was also sentenced to life imprisonment in the case of murder of a journalist in 2021 but despite this he is getting parole.

Punjab Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira has attacked Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann by tweeting. He alleged that despite the government having an army of more than 200 lawyers, expensive private lawyers were engaged against a small person like him, costing more than Rs. 5 crore. Khaira said that Bhagwant Maan should tell whether he will deposit this fee given to private lawyers in the treasury of the state, whether he still has the same stand as he used to say in the Mukhtiar Ansari case that expenditure of Rs. 55 lakh will be recovered from Captain's government.

The Punjab government has received a big blow when it reached the Supreme Court to cancel the bail of Punjab Congress MLA from Bhulath Sukhpal Singh Khaira.
