Alberta to unveil next phase of proposed West Coast oil pipeline on July 2
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is expected to announce new details Thursday about a proposed oil pipeline that would transport crude from Alberta to Canada's West Coast.

Teen girl dies following single-vehicle crash in Calgary
A 17-year-old girl has died following a vehicle crash in Calgary last week, according to police.
Calgary police said the crash occurred early Wednesday morning. Investigators believe the teen's vehicle struck a parked GMC Savana.
Police have not released the identity of the victim. Investigators said speed is being examined as a possible factor in the collision.

Wildfire smoke expected to keep air quality poor across parts of northern Alberta and Saskatchewan
Environment Canada says air quality across much of northern Alberta and Saskatchewan is expected to remain poor through mid-week because of wildfire smoke.
The agency said smoke from ongoing wildfires is affecting air quality and visibility in several communities. Officials are advising residents to limit time outdoors and keep windows and doors closed as much as possible to reduce exposure to smoke.

Leaders pushing for a referendum on Alberta's separation from Canada have received a partial victory in court.
Alberta Court of Appeal Justice Alice Woolley ruled today that the process of counting and verifying signatures collected for the separatist petition can proceed.

24-Year-Old Woman Killed in Crash Near Banff National Park
A 24-year-old woman from Camrose, Alberta, has died following a single-vehicle crash near the entrance to Banff National Park.

Calgary police officer suspended with pay after assault charge tied to 2025 arrest
A Calgary Police Service officer has been suspended with pay after being charged with assault in connection with an arrest that took place in May 2025.
