Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has sent Rs 25 lakh as a goodwill gesture to Glory Bawa, daughter of Punjab's late folk singer Gurmeet Bawa and has called her his younger sister.

Due to the poor financial condition of the family and possession of the ancestral property, Glory shared the pain on social media 2 weeks ago.

Folk singer Gurmeet Bawa, her husband Kirpal Singh Bawa and daughter Lachi Bawa have all died and their daughter Glory Bawa is running the family after them.

Gurmeet Bawa had dedicated more than 50 years of his life to Punjabi singing. In January 2022, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan posthumously by the Government of India.
