A police officer died and six other officers were wounded in a grenade attack at a mosque in southwestern Pakistan, authorities said.

Earthquake shakes New York City area
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 was felt in New York City on Friday morning. The earth shook with a magnitude of 5.8 in Myanmar as well.
The New York Fire Department said there were no reports of damage. City Governor Kathy Hochul said in a social media post that tremors were felt across the state. It is to be noted that on April 3, an earthquake of magnitude 7.5 occurred in Taiwan.

Rescuers search for people out of contact in Taiwan after strong earthquake
Rescuers searched for dozens of people out of contact Thursday a day after Taiwan'sstrongest earthquakein a quarter century damaged buildings, caused multiple rockslides and killed nine people.
In the eastern coastal city of Hualien near the epicenter, workers used an excavator to put construction materials around the base of a damaged building to stabilize it and prevent a collapse. A strong earthquake hits near Taiwan, tsunami alert issued
A strong earthquake of magnitude 7.5 struck off Taiwan, and Japan issued a tsunami alert for the southern Japanese island group of Okinawa.
Japan's meteorological agency forecast a tsunami of up to 3 meters (9.8 feet).

Fire at an Istanbul nightclub during renovations leaves 15 dead and several badly hurt
A fire at an Istanbul nightclub during renovations on Tuesday left 15 people dead and several badly hurt, officials and reports said.
At least eight people were injured, seven of them hospitalized in serious condition, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
The nightclub, which was closed for the renovations, was on the ground floor of a 16-story residential building in the Besiktas district on the European side of the city bisected by the Bosphorus.
