Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday said that for the first time since independence, the state government is directly investing in teachers, schools and students to bring about an “education revolution” in Punjab.
Speaking at a ceremony while flagging off the first batch of 72 primary school teachers for professional training in Finland, Mann said the initiative marks a historic moment for Punjab’s education system.
He said the program will expose teachers to modern teaching practices and classroom innovations, enabling them to implement new methods in Punjab’s government schools. “This is not just a visit to another country,” Mann said. “It’s a step toward transforming how we teach and learn in our classrooms.”
Officials said the teachers were selected based on merit and performance, and will receive training on pedagogical innovation, curriculum design, and student engagement techniques. On their return, they will help train other educators across the state, ensuring the benefits of the program reach every district.
The initiative is part of the state’s broader plan to upgrade public education, improve student outcomes and make Punjab’s schools globally competitive.
