Witnesses asked to come forward following robbery with weapon at grocery store
At approximately 7:00 pm on August 17th the New Westminster Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from staff at a local grocery store. According to staff, Loss Prevention Officers at the grocery store approached a male observed stealing merchandise from the store. In response, this male began threatening staff and making stabbing motions while holding scissors and a knife. New Westminster Police Department officers rushed to the scene and located someone matching the suspect description a few blocks away. Punjab Vigilance arrests former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Monday arrested former Congress minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu from a local salon near the residence of Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, according to a police official.
The vigilance bureau arrested Ashu in the case of allotting transportation tenders allegedly on the basis of fake registration numbers of vehicles.
Meanwhile, Congress workers protested outside the Vigilance Bureau office in Ludhiana over the arrest of party leader Ashu.

Environment Canada issues special air quality statement for the Edmonton
Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for the Edmonton area.
The Air Quality Health Index was sitting at seven out of 10 this morning, which is considered to be a high risk.
Environment Canada says strenuous activities outdoors should be reduced or rescheduled.
It says the haze is from wildfires in Alberta and British Columbia.
Environment Canada predicts the AQHI will drop to a four - moderate risk on Monday night, and sit at three - low risk on Tuesday.

Calgary police investigating two shootings in the city happened less than 24 hours
Police say officers responded to a shooting yesterday evening the neighbourhood of Penbrooke Meadows.
They say officers found a man inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds and sent to hospital in stable condition.
Police say an early morning shooting yesterday left one man dead.
They did not disclose whether the two shootings were connected, but they say the shooting in the evening did not appear to be random.
According to police, witnesses reported seeing two vehicles "exchanging gunfire." The Calgary Police Service located one vehicle at the scene and found an injured man inside. Paramedics too

Pakistani police have filed terrorism charges against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, authorities said Monday, escalating political tensions in the country as he holds mass rallies seeking to return to office.

Police say man dead after early morning shooting at Calgary restaurant
Police in Calgary say a man is dead following reports of gunshots at a bar early Sunday.
In a news release, police say they were called to the Ambassador Restaurant and Bar in the Radisson Heights neighbourhood at around 4:40 a.m.
They say officers found a man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound and began life-saving measures, but he died at the scene.
Police say witnesses reported hearing gunshots and then saw a man fleeing, and investigators are seeking a suspect described as approximately 30-years-old, 6' 2`` tall, with a medium build and short black hair.

A wolf missing from a British Columbia zoo has been found safe and returned to its pack. The Greater Vancouver Zoo says in a statement the discovery of the one-year-old female canine known as Tempest puts an end to a three-day search and rescue operation.
