Canada's Leylah Fernandez has entered the quarterfinals of the Nottingham Open tennis tournament. She defeated Spain's Cristina Bucsa in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Fernandez maintained a strong hold throughout the 1 hour and 43 minute bout. This was Fernandez' third win over Bucsa, who hails from Laval, Quebec. A search has been launched for a missing 3-year-old girl in Montreal. The girl is reportedly alive and talking. She had been missing since Sunday. The Quebec Provincial Police held a press conference to update the search for the girl. Sergeant Eloise Cosset said it was not possible to provide any further information about the circumstances under which the girl was found and what had happened over the past day and a half. He said another press conference would be held later to provide more information on the case. He also thanked the community for their support in helping to find the girl.

In India, 4 deaths have been reported due to Corona in the last 24 hours, two in Maharashtra and 1 each in Delhi and Kerala. According to the Health Department, 113 people have died due to Corona since January 2025. The highest number of deaths have occurred in Kerala and Maharashtra. A total of 13 deaths have also occurred in Delhi. There are 6,483 active cases of Corona in 32 states and union territories of the country. So far 42 patients of Corona have been found in Punjab.

The B-C Wildfire Service says it has issued an area restriction around the Kiskatinaw (kiss-KAT'-in-aw) River wildfirenear the B-C-Alberta border. The service says the restriction takes effect this morning and will last until October, restricting entry to a large swath of Crown land where the fire has spurred evacuation orders and alerts.
