The alleged leader of a notorious street gang that is involved in brutal turf wars in Quebec during which victims have been tortured and have had their limbs amputated is the most-wanted fugitive in Canada.
Quebec provincial police said today that Dave "Pik" Turmel, leader of the Blood Family Mafia, is the new number 1 suspect of the Bolo Program, a project operated by a Canadian charity to alert the public about dangerous criminals.

Regarding Narayan Singh Chaura, who attempted to shoot Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal, the police have revealed that the accused had visited Sri Darbar Sahib the previous day, and they were already monitoring his activities.

Pressure rises on federal government to intervene in Canada Post strike
The business community is ramping up pressure on the federal government to intervene in the ongoing Canada Post strike, which is on its 20th day.
The Retail Council of Canada said Tuesday that the strike by more than 55,000 workers countrywide is putting businesses and their employees in jeopardy.
The federal government has so far resisted calls for it to intervene in the strike, even though it intervened in other labour disputes earlier this year.
Federal mediation was put on pause last week as the two sides appeared too far apart to reach an agreement.

Heavy fog again envelopes Metro Vancouver, parts of southern B.C. coast
Heavy fog has again enveloped parts of southwestern British Columbia, including Metro Vancouver, a day after the region saw near-zero visibility.
Environment Canada has reinstated a fog advisory, this time also covering parts of Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.
The weather agency says a ridge of high pressure remains over the region, creating favourable conditions for low clouds and dense fog.
The advisory says the fog is expected to dissipate later in the day but may again reform in the evening.

Assassination Attempt On Sukhbir Badal During His Penance At Golden Temple
Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal was shot at by a man while he was performing the duty of ‘sewadar’ outside the Golden Temple on Wednesday. Sukhbir Singh Badal, who was sitting in a wheelchair, escaped unhurt as the bullet hit a wall.
According to reports, the shooter was among the crowd and the attempt to attack Sukhbir Badal was made at close range. The person was overpowered by people present on the spot. According to the police, the assailant was identified as Narayan Singh Chaura who was immediately taken into custody.

65% rise in AIDS cases in Punjab over five years
Punjab has witnessed a 65% increase in AIDS cases over the past five years, according to a report presented in the Lok Sabha. Experts attribute this surge primarily to drug abuse in the region.
The report reveals that 2,45,939 AIDS cases were recorded between 2019-20 and 2023-24, with the numbers rising annually. Notably, women account for 30-35% of the total cases.
Additionally, the number of transgender individuals infected with HIV grew from 117 in 2019-20 to 186 in 2023-24, highlighting a concerning upward trend.

B.C. nurse suspended for sharing patient information
B.C. nurse has been suspended for eight months for improperly accessing and sharing patient information. According to the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, Lindsay Rints of Duncan obtained a patient’s personal information in October 2022 without authorization.
The college’s website confirms that the agreement regarding disciplinary action was approved on November 28, 2023. As a result, Rints’ nursing registration has been suspended for eight months.
Officials emphasized that nurses are only permitted to access the personal or health information of patients they are directly treating.
