BPCL to invest Rs 22,000 crore on development of city gas distribution networks

Train derails in India's West Bengal state; at least 5 dead
At least five people have died and more than 45 were injured when a train derailed in India's West Bengal state. Twelve coaches of the train went off the rails and three capsized. Images from the scene show passengers stuck in twisted metal and debris as rescuers rushed to pull them out. Railway authorities have ordered an investigation into the cause of the derailment. Election Commission hikes poll expenditure limits for candidates
Just ahead of crucial polls in five states, the election expenditure limit for candidates has been hiked to Rs 95 lakh from Rs 70 lakh for Lok Sabha elections and to Rs 40 lakh from Rs 28 lakh for assembly polls, the Election Commission said on Thursday. The decision of the government is based on the recommendation made by the poll panel. For Lok Sabha polls, the revised expenditure limit is now Rs 95 lakh for bigger states and Rs 75 for smaller states. RPF constable saves pregnant woman's life at Kalyan station in Mumbai
Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable SR Khandekar saved a pregnant woman passenger from falling under the train. The woman was about to fall into the gap between platform and train while she was deboarding the running train. The incident happened at Kalyan station in Mumbai on October 17.
