Ex-Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh to join BJP on Monday
Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will join the Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday.
According to Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal, Amarinder Singh is also likely to merge his party PLC with the BJP in the national capital on September 19.
The development comes days after Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi.

Punjab and Haryana HC grants relief to singer Daler Mehndi in 2003 human trafficking
Punjab and Haryana High Court gave relief to singer Daler Mehndi and granted him bail on Thursday in a 2003 human trafficking case.
Singer Daler's lawyer Sumanjit Kaur confirmed Mehndi's bail.
Earlier in July, the Patiala district court sentenced Singer Daler Mehndi to two years of imprisonment in a 2003 human trafficking case.
Following the court's order, the singer was taken into custody by Punjab Police. Bakshish Singh, the complainant alleged that Mehndi and his bother took Rs 13 lakh from him on the pretext of sending him to Canada.

BMW says no plans for manufacturing unit in Punjab
A day after the Punjab government announced that BMW has agreed to set up its auto part manufacturing unit in the state, the German carmaker said it has no plans for setting up additional manufacturing operations in the state.
Punjab government had said on Tuesday that efforts of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to get investments from Germany bore fruit and BMW "has agreed to set up its auto part manufacturing unit in state". The Chief Minister had also remarked about the decision.

Sidhu Moose Wala murder not under investigation, clarify NIA sources
The murder of famed Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala is not under investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), official sources said on Monday.
The clarification came after the counter-terror agency on Monday conducted searches at 50 places across North India in the investigation of cases against activities of gangsters with international and inter-state ramifications.

Adampur bypoll: Aam Aadmi Party trying to get a foothold in Haryana

Sidhu Moosewala's father gets death threat, 1 held
The Mansa Police arrested a man from Jodhpur for allegedly sending a death threat to Punjabi singer Siddu Moose Wala's father, Balkour Singh Sidhu, said the officials on Wednesday.
The accused had allegedly threatened the singer's father through an email.
As per reports the accused has been identified as Mahipal. The threat was sent to Balkour Singh Sidhu with the aim to increase social media followers on a page that Mahipal had created under the name AJ Lawrence Bishnoi.

SC asks Punjab, Haryana to discuss Sutlej-Yamuna link canal issue
The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Union Jal Shakti Ministry to call a meeting between the governments of Punjab and Haryana to resolve the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal dispute.
A bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Abhay S Oka and Vikram Nath asked the central government to hold a meeting between both the States and granted four months to file a report on the meeting.
The apex court now posted the matter for hearing on January 19, 2023, and sought a progress report on the issue. The apex court was hearing the SYL Canal dispute between Haryana and Punjab.

SC seeks details of FIRs filed against Lawrence Bishnoi
The Supreme Court on Thursday sought to know details of the number of FIRs filed against gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
The court has listed the matter for further hearing on September 13.
The court also sought to know in which FIRs he has been in custody since June 13 and the future plan of police relating to Bishnoi.
During the hearing, the court remarked that "he (Bishnoi) is supposed to face the consequences if he has done anything wrong but not in such a way."
