Congress has approved the name of former Chief Minister Charanjit Channi to contest Lok Sabha elections from Jalandhar seat of Punjab. If reports are to be believed, the Congress High Command may announce it soon. The High Command has taken this decision in view of the SC vote bank and Channi's popularity. It is to be noted that Jalandhar is a reserved Lok Sabha seat and the SC community has the highest number of votes here. Reports say that Congress has finalized candidates for 7 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, although this could not be confirmed.

Two young men from the same village of Hoshiarpur's Dasuha district died in a terrible road accident in America. The deceased men have been identified as 23-year-old Sukhjinder Singh and Simranjit Singh, residents of Turkana village. Both of them went to America two years ago to earn a living.
