Singapore's Indian-origin former Transport Minister S. Iswaran has been sentenced to 12 months in jail on Thursday in a corruption case. They had received nearly 400,000 Singapore dollars' worth of gifts from the two businessmen as bribes over a period of seven years. The investigation of this matter was completed by Singapore's Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau a year ago. A Punjabi youth belonging to Kapurthala, Punjab died under suspicious circumstances in California. According to reports, the deceased youth was to be married on October 18, for which preparations were being made by the family. The family of the deceased alleges that their son has been murdered, but the American police have given the family the cause of death as a heart attack. The deceased youth has been identified as 32-year-old Gurjit Singh, a resident of Kapurthala. Former MP Jasbir Singh Dimpa reached his house today to meet former Congress MLA Kulbir Singh Zira, who was injured during the violent clash between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party supporters in Zira of Ferozepur, Punjab on Tuesday.
