ECI announces by-elections for 4 Assembly Seats in Punjab
By-election dates for 4 Vidhan Sabha seats of Punjab have been announced. According to the Election Commission's press conference held in Delhi today, Barnala, Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal and Gidderbaha assembly seats will go to polls on November 13 and the results will be released on November 23.
Out of the by-elections in Punjab assembly seats, 3 seats were held by Congress and one seat by Aam Aadmi Party. These seats fell vacant after the MLAs were elected as MPs during the Lok Sabha elections this year.

water main break near Bowness Road in Calgary
A Calgary official says a water main break has closed a road and left some homes and businesses dry, but says it is not related to a feeder main rupture earlier this year in the same area of the city that resulted in months of water restrictions.

Alberta government shuts down Edmonton daycare over safety concerns for children
The Alberta government says it has revoked the licence of an Edmonton daycare for risking the health and safety of children.
The province didn't provide specific details of how children attending Waverley Day Care were being put at risk, but says the risk was great enough to close the daycare immediately.

Police probe clears seven Vancouver officers in beating death of Myles Gray
Seven Vancouver police officers involved in the beating death of Myles Gray nine years ago have been cleared of wrongdoing by a police discipline authority.
The Office of the Police Complaints Commissioner says it's reviewing the decision over the 2015 death of Gray, which was classified as a homicide by a coroner's inquest last year.
A pathologist told the inquest Gray died of cardiopulmonary arrest, complicated by police actions including "neck compression," blunt force injuries, the use of pepper spray and holding Gray on his stomach while his arms were handcuffed behind his back.

Statistics Canada to release September labour force survey today
Statistics Canada is expected to provide its latest snapshot of the job market this morning when it releases its labour force survey for the month of September.
Economists polled by Reuters are forecasting the Canadian economy added 27,000 jobs in September and the unemployment rate to have ticked higher to 6.7 per cent.
The economy added 22,000 jobs in August as the unemployment rate rose to 6.6 per cent.
