Since the resumption of the war against Hamas last month, Israel has seized more than 50 percent of Gaza. The majority of the territory captured by the Israeli army is located near the Gaza border, where Palestinian homes, farmland, and infrastructure have been severely damaged, making it increasingly difficult for residents to live in the area.

Shiromani Akali Dal to Announce New President Before Baisakhi
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will announce its new party president on Saturday, just before Baisakhi. The decision was made by the Shiromani Akali Working Committee, which has scheduled the election of the new president for April 12 at Teja Singh Samundri Hall in the Sri Darbar Sahib complex, Amritsar.
This announcement was made by senior Akali leader and party spokesperson Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema during a press conference. Following the election of the new president, the Shiromani Akali Dal will also hold a political conference at Talwandi Sabo on April 13.

Late-Night Grenade Attack on BJP Leader Manoranjan Kalia’s House
A late-night grenade attack occurred at the residence of former Punjab minister and BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia in Jalandhar. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. The attackers arrived at the location on an e-rickshaw.
Within 12 hours, the police arrested two suspects. The accused have been identified as Ravinder Kumar, a resident of Subhana Road, Garha Jalandhar, and Satish alias Kaka, a resident of Bhargava Camp Jalandhar. Alberta builds groundwork for optional provincial police agency for municipalities
Alberta's government is taking another step toward giving municipalities the option of ditching the RCMP in favour of a new provincial police service. Public Safety Minister Mike Ellis says an independent Alberta service could step in to help address concerns he's heard about the Mounties' staffing shortages and rising costs.

Statue of prominent Canadian solider destroyed in Sherwood Park; man facing arson charges
A man has been charged with arson after the memorial statue of a prominent Canadian solider was destroyed in a community east of Edmonton last month. RCMP say the statue of Sam Steele, which was made of wood, was burned on March 21st in Sherwood Park.
Police say they arrested a 23-year-old Sherwood Park man shortly after the incident and he is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow. Steele was a key figure in the North-West Mounted Police and the Canadian military in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
