In Quebec, Liberals have defeated Bloc Quebecois by 10 seats. Before these elections, Bloc Quebecois had 33 seats in the House of Commons, which has now come down to 23.
However, Bloc leader Yves-François Blanchet easily won the riding of Beloit-Chambly. He defeated his rival Liberal candidate by nearly 10,000 votes.
There are a total of 78 parliamentary seats in Quebec, of which 43 went to the Liberals, while the Conservatives won 11 seats. Bloc Quebecois leader Yves-François Blanchet is also known as the separatist leader.
Late last week, he made controversial remarks calling Canada a fake country and saying that only he could protect the interests of Quebecers. He also called the House of Commons a foreign parliament.
