U. S. Gas prices dip just below $4 for the first time in 5 months

U.S. gas prices have dipped under $4 a gallon for the first time in more than five months. AAA says the national average is $3.99 for a gallon of regular. That's down 15 cents in just the last week, and 68 cents in the last month. Gasoline peaked at around $5.02 a gallon on June 14. Motorists in California and Hawaii are still paying above $5, and other states in the West are paying close to that. The cheapest gas is in Texas and several other states in the South and Midwest. India logged 16,299 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours with a case positivity rate of 4.58 per cent, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday. Monkeypox vaccinations open across Alberta as confirmed cases rise

The Alberta government is making the monkeypox vaccine available in more communities. Along with Edmonton and Calgary, people can also get the shot in Edson, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Red Deer and St. Paul. Health Canada says there are more than 1,000 confirmed cases in the country, mainly in Quebec and Ontario. The province says there are 19 confirmed cases in Alberta.

Police say part of stolen 'Cool Runnings' bobsled has been found, returned to owner

Calgary police say they have located part of a stolen bobsled that appeared in the 1993 movie "Cool Runnings" and returned it to its rightful owner. Police say in a social media post that the Jamaican bobsled was stolen in October 2020 from Ranchman's country bar in southeast Calgary, which has since closed. Family of a Saskatchewan woman being held in custody in the United States say they want her extradited quickly to deal with her charges in Canada. Dawn Walker, who is 48, is facing two charges in Oregon related to identity fraud along with two charges in Saskatoon of child abduction and public mischief. She was arrested Friday when she and her seven-year-old son were found in Oregon City after a two-week search. Police allege Walker was involved in a custody dispute with the boy's father and faked her death and that of her son before illegally entering the US.

Surrey RCMP is advising the public of a shooting in the Guildford area that left one person deceased and requesting anyone with information to contact police.
