Punjab's Ferozepur court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former Congress MLA Kulbir Singh Zira. A case of attempted murder was registered against Zira over a land dispute.
There is a dispute going on with a person named Gurlal Singh in his village Baggi regarding 10 acres of land, over which a fight broke out between the two parties one day and a shot was fired during it.

Pope Francis to meet with Trudeau, lead session on artificial intelligence

Dera chief Ram Rahim sought 21 days parole from the High Court
In the Punjab-Haryana High Court, Dera Sirsa chief Ram Rahim has again demanded a furlough of 21 days. Ram Rahim said in his petition that this month there is a program of Dera Sacha Sauda, in which he has to attend.
In response to this, the High Court said that the program should be postponed. The High Court also angrily said that first you keep the program then you apply pressure to join it by petitioning the court.

Defence Minister Bill Blair says more help coming for Ukraine, Latvia
Canada's minister of defence says the federal government is committed to supporting Ukraine.
Bill Blair is meeting with members of NATO in the Belgian capital of Brussels.

3 MLAs who won the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab have resigned from their current posts. They include former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa from Dera Baba Nanak, AAP leader Raj Kumar Chabewal from Chabewal of Hoshiarpur and Congress president Amarinder Raja Waring from Giddarbaha.

Uber says new B.C. rules will increase costs, reduce demand for restaurants
Uber says regulation changes for ride-share and delivery workers in British Columbia will drive up costs and reduce demands for local restaurants.
The company says in a statement that it supports some of the new rules coming in September, such as an increased minimum wage and health and safety coverage, but forcing platforms to pay workers for using a personal vehicle is "unreasonable."

B.C. sets minimum wage, other rules for app-based ride-hailing, delivery work
British Columbia has finalized regulations to provide a minimum-wage and basic protections for ride-hailing and delivery workers using app-based platforms such as Uber, DoorDash and SkipTheDishes.
The Ministry of Labour says in a statement the regulations that will take effect on Sept. 3 are a first in Canada.
It says the changes are the result of years of engagement with various stakeholders, and they address workers' top concerns, including low and unpredictable pay, tip protection and lack of workers' compensation.
