Bikram Singh Majithia sent to Nabha Jail after remand ends

A Mohali court in Punjab has sent Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia to New Nabha Jail till further hearing on July 19 after the Vigilance remand ends. The Vigilance had arrested Majithia from his Amritsar residence on June 25 in a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and had kept him on 11-day remand. Majithia's lawyer and Shiromani Akali Dal leaders are calling the action motivated by a sense of political vendetta. On the other hand, the Punjab government is calling the arrest a part of the action taken under the anti-drug campaign 'Ward Against Drugs'.
