Diljit Dosanjh's film Satluj has been removed from the ZEE5 streaming platform in India just two days after its release. The film is currently unavailable for streaming in the country.
According to an official statement from ZEE5, the film has been withdrawn from its Indian catalogue until further notice due to what the platform described as "the current circumstances." The company said it continues to support the film and its makers and is exploring legal options to restore the title on the platform. Satluj premiered on ZEE5 on July 3.
The film, based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, has faced a prolonged and controversial release process. It was originally expected to be released under the title Punjab 95, but following an extended censorship dispute, it was released directly on the OTT platform under the new title Satluj.
Following the removal, viewers expressed frustration on social media. Dosanjh also shared a message on his social media accounts, saying he would continue to "challenge the darkness." Director Honey Trehan said he remains hopeful the film will be made available to audiences again.
ZEE5 has not disclosed the specific legal or regulatory reasons behind the removal. It said further updates will be provided as appropriate.
