The renowned filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, who is today known for his acclaimed work in movies like Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Koi Mil Gaya, Krrish and more, has faced various ups and downs in his personal and professional life. In an exclusive interview with our host Faridoon Shahryar on Connect Cine, Rakesh Roshan opened up about his career and shared untold insights.

Rakesh revealed that he was always insulted and looked down upon as an actor and calls the time a ‘bad phase’ of his life. The filmmaker revealed his life was tough before he finally became a director.

Rakesh said, “I went through a very bad phase. When I see myself as an actor, I still can’t sleep at night. Because for 15 years, I went through the name of an actor- Rakesh Roshan, and it troubled me a lot. I was insulted, I was looked down upon. Though my work was appreciated in films, through critics and the audience, but I never went one step ahead in my career. I always went backwards.”

The Krrish director also said he had no other option than to just go on as he was uneducated. He said, “I thought, ‘If I give up now. What will I do?’. Because I have no other choice. I left college in the first year when my father expired. And I was just 17 years old. So, then I started doing side roles and then I started doing villain roles. I wanted to be there. I wanted to continue my journey thinking that there will come a path that I can see some light. And it did happen when I became a director.”

The popular director shared many more details about his success and personal life in the engaging conversation. To enjoy the entire conversation, watch the full interview on Connect Cine.
