US court upholds conviction of Mexican drug lord El Chapo
A US appeals court has upheld the conviction of the notorious Mexican drug lord known as El Chapo. The decision by the 2nd U-S Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan praised the trial judge for his handling of the case against Joaquin Guzman. The three-judge panel rejected claims that Judge Brian Cogan made rulings allowing a jury to hear faulty evidence at a 2019 trial. Guzman is serving life behind bars for his murderous crime reign.

Philadelphia fire kills at least 13, including 7 children
The deadliest single fire in Philadelphia in at least a century has killed 13 people, including seven children, and sent two people to hospitals. Police: Gunman in Denver who killed 5 targeted some victims
Authorities say a gunman who went on a deadly shooting rampage in several locations in the Denver area was targeting at least some of his victims. Police say the suspect in Monday's shootings killed five people, including one who succumbed to her injuries Tuesday.
