Shortly after midnight on June 15, 2021, the Prince George RCMP received multiple similar reports from residents in the area of 20th Avenue and Oak Street. The callers stated they were hearing what sounded like gunshots and they observed a black Mustang speeding and doing stunts in the area. Some callers reported seeing two people hiding in an alleyway.

Frontline members attended the area and located the two people, who stated a black Mustang had been following them around and the driver was shooting fireworks out of the vehicle at them. Neither person reported any injuries from the fireworks.

Police patrolling the area soon located a black Mustang; however, the driver evaded police at high speeds when police activated their emergency lights. Continued patrols located the vehicle outside of a residence on the 2100 block of Norwood Street. Police impounded the vehicle for seven days and issued the driver violation tickets for no insurance, no driver’s license and driving without consideration.

In total, the driver received fines of $1070 and nine demerit points on his license, as well as the associated tow and impound fees. Driving behaviour such as this is dangerous and not acceptable. Hopefully the steep financial consequences of this driver’s choices will make them think twice before attempting a stunt like this in the future, states Cst. Jennifer Cooper of the Prince George RCMP.
