Punjab CM Mann administers oath to newly elected 10,031 Sarpanches in Kejriwal's presence

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today administered the oath of office to the newly elected Sarpanches during a state-level function at Cycle Valley located at village Dhanansu in Ludhiana. Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal arrived as the chief guest in this oath-taking ceremony.

During the state-level function, 10031 sarpanches of 19 districts out of the newly elected 13147-gram panchayats in 23 districts across the state were administered the oath of office by the Chief Minister in the recently held panchayat elections in the state.

Sarpanchs of the remaining four districts Sri Muktsar Sahib, Hoshiarpur, Barnala and Gurdaspur and 81,808 newly elected panches of 23 districts will be sworn in after the by-elections in the four assembly constituencies Giddarbaha, Chabewal, Barnala and Dera Baba Nanak.

Maple Ridge shooting leaves 56-year-old man critically injured

A 56-year-old man has been critically injured in an overnight shooting in Maple Ridge, B.C. Police say the shooting happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 11400 block of 236 Street. Peel Regional Police in Ontario have arrested a Punjabi man and a woman in connection with an alleged extortion scheme in Brampton involving an online dating platform.
