Health Canada approves first RSV vaccine for 60 and above

Notably, doctors have been calling for the RSV vaccine for the elderly because they are more likely to get seriously ill and be hospitalized.

Health Canada has approved the first vaccine for RSV for adults aged 60 and older.

Manufacturer GSK says the federal agency has approved the vaccine called Arexvy.

The RSV season in Canada typically begins in late fall and lasts through spring.

Company says the vaccine is 94 percent effective in preventing the disease in seniors with underlying medical conditions.
