Government schools in Punjab to run in double shifts

With an increase in the number of students in government schools, the Punjab Education Department has decided to run the government schools in the state in double shifts.

As per the orders released by the education department, the decision has been taken due to the lack of space and infrastructure in schools. Due to the increase in the number of students, many were seeking double shifts in schools following which the orders were released, said the letter issued.

In summer the first shift will start at 7 am and conclude at 12 noon. While the evening shift will be from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Similarly in winter the first shift will run from 7.30 am to 12.30 pm and the second shift from 12.15 pm to 5.15 pm.
