Connect FM, GNFB radiothon raises $750K for Punjab flood victims

Connect FM in association with Dukhniwaran Gurdwara Sahib, Guru Nanak Food Bank and Sanjha TV organized a radiothon for the flood victims of Punjab on Monday. During this, the sangat (people) from Surrey and surrounding areas as well as Calgary and Edmonton donated generously.

The running total of the money raised at the radiothon on Monday was $750,000 (Cad). The money raised from the radiothon will be delivered to Padma Shri awardee Sant Sewa Singh at Khadoor Sahib in Punjab. The money will be used for the rehabilitation of flood victims.

He said that the Sikh community stands firm in the face of any adversity and contributes generously, and he also thanked the community for yesterday's donation.

Meanwhile, Giani Narinder Singh (Guru Nanak Food Bank) said that due to the continuous support from the people, Connect FM and Sanjha TV will be together again on location next Sunday, September 14 at Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib in Surrey and sangat will have the opportunity to donate for the flood victims.

On Monday, people of all ages, from children to the elderly, reached Connect FM offices in Surrey, Edmonton and Calgary, for donations and to volunteer.

Some of the dignitaries who arrived during this time included BC Premier David Eby, Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke and MP Sukh Dhaliwal. Premier David Eby said that he too is feeling the pain and emotions of the Indo-Canadians living in BC due to the situation in Punjab.

The Connect FM management and team thanked the people and volunteers for their support in the radiothon.
